My boy Natedogg, former owner of exchange hut and currently livin' the dream outside the cube has a blog over at nathanlustig.com. Nate's one of the smartest kids I know and also one of the biggest hustlers. The kid's constantly working something and has not only been a successful entrepreneur, but he's become a symbol of what entrepreneurship can be, especially on college campuses, and has been an integral part of the Wiscontrepreneur program which has got to be one of the best in the country.
Anyway, a few weeks ago on his blog he touched off on what he considers "The Business School Way of Life", and here Revisited.
He raises some very good points on what people really get out of their business school education and what society is missing out on by some of the our smartest students heading to jobs in finance and banking. While not graduating from the business school is one of my biggest regrets, I am also incredibly thankful that I wasn't in the B-school. I know the demands of the B-school would have limited my opportunities for other experiences and I've always subscribed to what Mark Twain said "Don't let school get in the way of your education."
In many ways it's unfortunate that business school is so important to finding a job. I know I felt at a disadvantage not having it on my resume. But could the people who are business school students be doing something they like more and have more time on their hands to explore entrepreneurial options, or other careers?
